This programme has been designed by academics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University of London, regarded as an international centre of academic excellence and innovation in the social sciences. The programme is designed to prepare students for a career in accountancy, consulting, commercial or investment banking, trading and sales or risk management as well as to more advanced academic study.
The course aims to provide students with a thorough understanding of the ways in which financial intermediaries and institutions operate, and the structure and functioning of financial markets.
Professional Accreditation
Graduates of the BSc Banking and Finance degree who wish to continue their studies towards professional accreditation in the financial or accounting professions can take advantage of a ‘fast track’ agreement with three professional bodies: the ifs School of Finance, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). Subject to passing the required combination of units on the degree, students will be exempt from certain modules required on the route towards professional accreditation.
Programme Structure
The degree consists of 12 units and each unit will be delivered over 15 weeks with 30 contact hours each.

Assessment
Each full unit will be examined by one three-hour unseen written paper. Each half unit will be examined by one two-hour unseen written paper. Examinations by written paper will take place on one occasion each year, normally commencing in May.

Entrance requirements
In order to satisfy the entrance requirements for the BSc Accounting and Finance, you must:
- two subjects at GCE 'A' level, plus at least three further subjects at GCSE or GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C or above) or
- three subjects at GCE 'A' level (with one 'A' level at not less than grade D) or
- three subjects at GCE 'A' level and one further subject at GCSE or GCE 'O' level (at not less than grade C) or
- two subjects at GCE 'A' level, plus two further subjects at GCE 'AS' level.
*Applications will be considered from applicants who do not meet the normal minimum age requirement for admission. Each application will be considered on an individual basis, and the decision taken at the discretion of the University of London. |
Fees
The course fee is Rs 100,000 per year, payable at the beginning of each academic year.
